Bran was born in Winterfell in 288 AR. He is the second son of Catelyn and Eddard Stark, head of House Stark, and brother of Robb Stark, King of the North. He is the current Lord of Winterfell. It is named after his uncle, Eddard's older brother Brandon, whose death was among the triggers that led to the Robert Baratheon Rebellion.
Bran has three older brothers, Robb, Sansa, and Arya, and a younger one, Rickon. He also has a bastard brother, Jon Snow. Bran was instructed by Master Luwin, and he was also trained in the use of weapons. His dream was to be part of the Royal Guard.
Bran dreams of becoming a knight, and always asks for their stories to be told, to the point where their names have become "like music to him". He is particularly interested in the Royal Guard, but is disappointed when his father informs him that the brotherhood is no longer the same as it once was.
