Antique Vieux Montpellier French Faience Yellow Plate, Rose & Olive
Shades of the south of France inspire this 10 5/8 inch Vieux Montpellier faience plate. There is a strong yellow background with olive sprigs and flowering branches on the border. Yellow, green, black, gold, brown, and white make up the color palette. The most striking feature is the rose and olive bouquet in the center of the plate. There is a chip on the top at about 10:00. There are no hairlines or repairs. On the back is "France Hand Painted" and the letter "Q." The appearance of "France" rather than "Made in France" indicates that the plate predates 1921.
